The Perry County Historical Society receives many requests
each year for assistance with genealogical research. Since we
have limited resources we refer these request to the
Perry County
Genealogical Society. They are a fine organization and are better
equipped to handle these types of request.

The Perry County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society was
chartered in 1982. The chapters collection of genealogical
material is housed in the MacGahan Historical and Genealogical
Room at the Perry County Public Library at 117 South Jackson St.,
New Lexington, Ohio (our county seat). The MacGahan
Historical and Genealogical Room is generally open the same hours as the
library. Call the library for current hours at
740-342-4194. The library is closed Sundays and holidays.
Many of the officers of the Perry County Chapter, O.G.S. hold
down full-time jobs; therefore, their time donated to researching
is limited. Their officers live in different communities and some
reside outside of the county.
The Perry County Genealogical Society has volunteers who will
research their Perry County publications for ONE surname for a
donation of $10.00 to the chapter's library purchasing
fund. They offer no guarantees that any record of your
family can be located and these volunteers will not research
outside the collection.
If a more in-depth or extended research is desired, they have
members who will research in the Perry County area for a fee.
Their names and addresses are listed below. We suggest that you
contact them directly to inquire about their services and fees.
The Perry County Genealogical Society and the Perry County
Historical Society will not be responsible for the results of the
research done by any of the researchers.
